Your First Session: What to Expect
Plan an extra 10-15 minutes (no extra charge) on your initial visit for intake and postural/biomechanical analysis, if needed. Each session is customized to your specific needs; if you are coming in to address a specific painful condition or to optimize athletic performance, I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing in case we need to do any movement assessments. If you have relevant MRI X-Ray, or other medical reports, please bring them if possible.
After intake and assessment, massages are conducted on the table. Most clients undress to their comfort level and lie under the sheet; I will step out of the room while you get settled and ensure professional draping throughout the session. Of course, if you'd rather remain fully clothed, that is absolutely fine. You are always encouraged to communicate about pressure, comfort, or anything that arises during the session — your feedback is welcome and respected. When the massage portion of our time together is complete, I'll step out of the room once again and wait for you to let me in once you are dressed and ready.
If indicated, I will recommend homework exercises or other resources to support your well-being, and I am always available for follow-up questions or concerns.
Please arrive on time so we can make the most of your session; late arrivals may shorten the session length out of respect for following appointments.
*If you need ADA accommodation, please let me know ahead of time so I can make arrangements for you - my main office is located in upstairs in a building with low ceilings and no elevator, but I do outcall sessions and can occasionally see clients on the lower level of my building.
